Propose or Make Nominations for the Board
Are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?
Do you know a member of the Society who you think would be a great asset on our Board of Directors?
Every year at the Annual Business Meeting, Board members are elected by the general membership. To serve on the Board, a member must be in good standing and have been a member of the Society for at least 1 year.
Board meetings are held every three months, and Directors are expected to attend these meetings, as well as the Annual Business Meeting, unless excused by the President.
Most nominations are made by the Nomination Committee, but individual members in good standing can also nominate a fellow member directly. Nominations made directly by a member must be submitted in writing to the President of the Society at least 30 days before the Annual Business Meeting. No nominations are permitted from the floor during the meeting.
Members nominated to the Board must consent to the nomination in writing.
If you are interested in serving on the Board or wish to propose another member for consideration, please send an email to the Nomination Committee, and the chair will contact you and/or the proposed nominee. Send your email to nominationcommittee@germansociety-md.com.
If you wish to directly nominate a fellow member, please send an email or letter to the President at least 30 days before the Annual Business meeting, which is normally held in April. Please be sure to discuss in advance this with the member you are nominating prior to submitting the nomination, as the President will contact the proposed nominee to secure his or her written acceptance of the nomination. Send your email to president.gsm@germansociety-md.com.
