The St. Martin’s Day Celebration is an event of the German Language School at Zion Church of the City of Baltimore, with support from the German Society of Maryland.

Participation is free and is open to all interested families. Donations to support the German Language School are graciously accepted.

The festivities will feature

  • A Mass Reenactment of the Story of St. Martin and the Beggar
  • An Outdoor Lantern Procession with the Singing of Traditional Songs
  • Refreshments including Weckmänner and Wienerwurst for the children
  • Light refreshments including Glühwein for the adults

For families not enrolled at the German Language School, we recommend bringing your own lanterns. Instructions for this family craft project are widely available on the Internet. The Lidl grocery stores in Maryland often sell lantern kits if you prefer to purchase a lantern.

Free parking is available in the church lot at 146 N Gay Street
